1. Paste the server URL into your client

The server URL is the same for everyone:

Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and mobile)

Custom connectors are added once on your Claude account and show up in claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and the mobile apps.

Pro and Max plans

  1. Sign in at claude.ai.
  2. Go to Customize → Connectors.
  3. Click + → Add custom connector.
  4. Enter https://api.botdog.co/mcp as the remote MCP server URL and click Add.
  5. Click Connect on the Botdog connector. Claude opens app.botdog.co/oauth/consent to finish authorizing.
  6. In a chat, click + → Connectors and toggle Botdog on.

Team and Enterprise plans

An owner adds the connector first: Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web, enter https://api.botdog.co/mcp, then click Add. Members then go to Customize → Connectors, click Connect on Botdog, and enable it in a chat from + → Connectors.
claude_desktop_config.json only supports local servers. Add Botdog as a custom connector as shown above instead.

ChatGPT (developer mode)

Custom MCP servers need Developer mode (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education plans, on the web). On Business and Enterprise workspaces, an admin may need to allow it first.
  1. Open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Open Settings → Plugins and click + (it only appears once Developer mode is on).
  3. Fill in:
    • Name: Botdog
    • Description: Manage my Botdog campaigns
    • Connection: MCP server URL https://api.botdog.co/mcp
    • Authentication: OAuth
  4. Create the connection. ChatGPT opens app.botdog.co/oauth/consent to finish authorizing.
  5. In a new chat, add Botdog from the tools menu.

Cursor

Add Botdog to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project):
Open Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP and click Needs login next to botdog to authorize.

Claude Code

Then run /mcp inside Claude Code (or claude mcp login botdog from your terminal) to sign in. Add --scope user to the first command to use Botdog in every project.

2. Authorize Botdog

When your client starts the sign-in, your browser opens app.botdog.co/oauth/consent. Sign in if you aren’t already. If you belong to more than one team, pick the team to connect. Both scopes start checked: uncheck mcp.write if you want read-only access — see Scopes. Then click Allow. You’re done. Try asking:
“Show me my Botdog campaigns.”

3. Disconnecting

Remove the Botdog connector from your AI client’s settings. Clients that support OAuth token revocation revoke access immediately. Connections your client hasn’t refreshed in 14 days are revoked automatically, and a connection that is never refreshed expires 30 days after you authorize it. To have a connection revoked right away, email support@botdog.co.
